The Rt.Hon /Mr/Mrs/ XXXXX MP

Member of Parliament for XXX

House of Commons (or Lords)

Dear Mr/Mrs/etc

As elected representative for xxxx, I am writing to invite you to join our club/group/me on a river cleanup as part of the Big Paddle Cleanup campaign.

We would be delighted if you can join us on the water, or on the riverbank, to see the work I/we are doing to keep our environment clean. We are planning to do our cleanup at (enter location) on (insert date and times).

As regular users of the River X/ Y Canal/ Z beach, we/I care deeply about protecting our environment. [brief details of your club/group/interest]

Pollution from plastic and rubbish is just one of the threats our waterways are facing.

I/we are proud that the paddling community is taking direct action to stem the tide of junk arriving in our oceans and protect our wildlife from further harm.

In 2023, over 2,600 paddlers took part in a bid to clear their local waterways of junk and plastic pollution, while raising more public awareness of the issue.

About 1,800 huge sacks were filled containing 6,767 plastic bottles, 2,739 glass bottles, 4,403 cans and 7,682 food packaging items.

The Big Paddle Cleanup showed how prepared the paddling community are to protect our waters.

Supporting the Big Paddle Cleanup is a fantastic way of bringing people together and improving our local surroundings.

It would be great if you would be willing to join us on the water, or arrange a time to visit us/me at a convenient time to hear more about what we do to protect the places I/we love.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and meeting you out on the water.

Kind regards,

XYPQZ
